Wertheim is one of the most popular destinations for cyclists. Here ends the five-star cycle path "Liebliches Taubertal",which starts 84 km further up in Rothenburg ob der Tauber. It is a good idea to take the train to Tauberbischofsheim, Lauda or Bad Mergentheim, then cycle back by bike to Wertheim. Or you can cycle upstream as far as you like and come back by train.
In Wertheim, the Tauber valley cycle path leads to the "Maintal-Radweg", which provides alternating tours in both directions. You can follow the river valleys from Wertheim in three directions if you do not want to climb the hills.
Numerous walking/climbing trails invite you to explore nature in all seasons. The Panoramaweg Taubertal and the Jakobsweg (Jacob Trail) are only two famous representatives. A good overview is provided by the "Wertheim für Wanderfreunde" (Tourist
Association).
As a special experience, you can explore Main and Tauber by canoe. Guests arriving by canoe can park directly in front of our house. To book a guided or unaccompanied tour, ask at the Kanustation Main-Tauber.
For a short paddle tour on site, you can also rent one of our canoes and leave directly in front of our terrace.
In Wertheim's old town there are many small shops where you can buy something nice or useful.
Wertheim Village is a well-known outlet center. Here you can spend a whole day shopping in more than 100 branded boutiques.
In the vaulted cellar Convenartis, which is only 300 meters from our house, high-class cabaret takes place all year round. The Wertheimer arts club invites familiar and less known artists, who are always worth a visit.
The Kloster Bronnbach is already worth a visit to the medieval ensemble and to empathize the monastic silence. In addition to the wine shop, where you can buy virtually all the wines of the Tauber Valley, the monastery regularly organizes first-class concerts, exhibitions, lectures and seminars.
In the former town hall the Grafschaftsmuseum now presents an overview of Wertheim history. An important part of this history is the glass flowering and the glass industry, which is dedicated to its own museum, the Glasmuseum Wertheim.
It is a walk of 20 minutes to the small Castle "Schlösschen im Hofgarten". The English landscape park around the castle invites you to play, while paintings and porcelain collections are displayed in the building itself.
When it is really winter and Main and Tauber are starting to freeze, you will experience the nature in a rare and fascinating form during your walks.
The term may be negatively comprehend, but it is not a question of suffering, but nature in a particularly original form. In Wertheim, there is tendency almost every year - mostly in winter - Main and Tauber to cause smaller floodwater situations. Due to the location of our house on the Tauber’s bank it is possible to observe this in a unique form. First, the water level rises and the Tauber flows faster. Before the river crosses the banks, the first cellars are flooded in the Old Town - a routine for the old town dwellers. Then the river is still 2 m below our terrace. If the water rises even higher, it becomes exciting and fascinating to watch the violence of the water from our terrace.
